JAMB CANDIDATES YOU MUST SEE THIS: JAMB fixes February 6 as deadline for UTME registration

UI recommends 3,783 out of 56,000 for 2017/2018 Admission - Out of the total 56,172 candidates seeking to study at the University of Ibadan through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE), authorities of the institution have recommended 3,783 for admissions to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for the 2017/2018 academic session.

"As we prepare for the 2018 examinations, beginning with the optional mock, we urge candidates to register on time, make clear their choices of institutions, disciplines and examination centres in the process", Fabian Benjamin, its head of media, had said in a statement.

The examination was earlier scheduled to hold between January 22 and 24.

Oloyede said in view of criticisms that trailed the sale of entry for a month in the past years, the board made a decision to earmark two months so that every willing candidate could be able to purchase, fill and submit the forms.

He warned candidates against the usage of prohibited items during the examination exercises.

The prohibition of materials, he said, was applicable to candidates, supervisors and examiners, adding, "Candidates, examiners, invigilators will be allowed to enter the examination hall with wrist watches, pencils except HB pencils and cameras".

The registrar who said examination officers were also affected by the new development, disclosed that JAMB had uncovered new ways of cheating in examination and discovered that sophisticated wristwatches were parts of the gadgets used to perpetrate the malpractice. The reasons for this will be provided shortly. "We are doing this to stop those who are extorting the candidates", Oloyede stated. He gave them two weeks and all of them are making refund now.

"The candidates in that case could not be traced for a refund". The minister directed that they should pay the money to a non-religious orphanage owned by the government or individuals in any situation whereby a candidate could not be traced
